Lead Scientist (Chemistry Innovation + Mentorship)

About the Role: Jawa EdTech is seeking a visionary Lead Scientist in Chemistry who can drive end-to-end research and innovation — similar to how a tech product is built from idea to launch. This role blends deep scientific research, product development, and mentorship, with a focus on solving real-world chemistry problems — such as discovering new compounds, developing functional formulations (e.g., cancer treatment, sugar alternatives), and guiding young minds in research-based learning. Key Responsibilities: Innovation Leadership: Identify and solve high-impact chemical challenges (healthcare, environment, nutrition, etc.) Research Execution: Plan and lead lab-scale research projects from ideation to validation of new molecules/solutions Mentorship: Guide students and junior researchers through structured research projects — not just teaching, but co-creating innovation Cross-functional Collaboration: Work like a "chemistry product manager" — integrating chemistry, data, business needs, and market relevance Documentation & IP: Maintain scientific records, publish findings, and help secure intellectual property when applicable Ideal Candidate Profile: Education: PhD in Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Biochemistry / Materials Science Experience: 3–10+ years in applied research, drug discovery, materials formulation, or chemical innovation Strong in: Experimental design, lab execution, scientific problem-solving Bonus if you have: Experience in startups, patents, or commercialization of research Preferred Location: Based in or willing to move to Coimbatore Example project you might lead: Discovering a compound to reduce sugar impact for diabetic patients Formulating plant-based alternatives to petrochemicals Developing next-gen biodegradable materials Identifying anti-cancer agents from natural sources Why Join Jawa Edtech: Be a scientific entrepreneur within an education-tech ecosystem Work with students as junior innovators — not just learners Pursue cutting-edge chemistry challenges with real impact Build products from lab bench to launch Show more Show less
