Lab Technician/CATTLE FEED INDUSTIRY

Job description

Job Objective:

To conduct chemical, physical, and sometimes microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cattle feed products to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Sample Testing:

Analyze raw materials (e.g., maize, soya, additives) for moisture, protein, fat, fiber, and ash content.

Test finished feed for nutritional composition and ensure it meets formulation targets.

Conduct mycotoxin analysis and detect contaminants (e.g., aflatoxins, heavy metals, antibiotics).

Quality Control:

Monitor and control the quality of raw materials and finished goods.

Perform routine quality checks during manufacturing processes.

Maintain and calibrate lab instruments (spectrophotometer, Kjeldahl apparatus, NIR analyzer, etc.).

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely laboratory records.

Prepare COAs (Certificates of Analysis) and QA reports.

Assist in preparing reports for audits and certifications (FSSAI, ISO, GMP, etc.).

Compliance:

Ensure all lab practices meet regulatory and safety standards.

Support environmental and feed safety compliance initiatives.

Research & Development Support:

Assist R&D teams with formulation trials and new product development.

Test experimental feed batches and evaluate nutrient retention.

Required Qualifications:

Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or related field.

Experience: 1–3 years in a similar role in feed, food, or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Skills:

Proficiency in chemical analysis techniques.

Knowledge of feed additives and animal nutrition is a plus.

Good documentation and MS Office skills.

Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols.
