Job Title: Lab Chemist – Quality Control
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha (Plant Location)
Industry: Ferro Alloys / Metals & Minerals
Experience: 5-10 years
Qualification: B.Sc/M.Sc in Chemistry or related discipline (Industrial Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry preferred)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and technically skilled Lab Chemist to support the Quality Assurance team in performing chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished products at our Ferro Alloys plant in Pune. The candidate should have hands-on experience in laboratory operations, analytical instruments, and should be capable of working in a fast-paced, process-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods as per internal and customer specifications.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as:
  • Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES)
  • Carbon-Sulfur Analyzer
  • Muffle Furnace
  • Titration Equipment
  • pH Meters and other analytical instruments
  • Prepare and standardize chemical reagents and ensure proper sample handling and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate test records, reports, and calibration logs in accordance with QA protocols.
  • Follow internal quality standards and lab SOPs, and report any deviations to the QA Head immediately.
  • Coordinate with the QA Head in quality audits, customer inspections, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of the laboratory area.
  • Help in developing and validating new testing procedures as required.
  • Participate in inventory management for lab chemicals, consumables, and safety equipment.

Key Requirements:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Chemistry or equivalent (specialization in Industrial/Analytical Chemistry preferred).
  • 2–5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a metallurgical, steel, or ferro alloys environment.
  • Sound knowledge of wet chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality documentation and laboratory best practices.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and within tight timelines.
  • Strong observational skills, discipline, and attention to detail.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience working in NABL-accredited or ISO-compliant labs.
  • Basic understanding of Indian quality standards and customer Q&A requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and report generation.
  • Team player with good communication and coordination abilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
