Job Overview
The Interior Designer cum Estimator will be responsible for developing interior design concepts and preparing accurate cost estimates for modular furniture and interior fit-out projects. This dual role requires a strong understanding of design aesthetics, technical drawings, materials, and manufacturing processes to ensure design feasibility, cost efficiency, and project profitability.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop interior design concepts, layouts, and space plans based on client requirements and project briefs.
- Prepare design drawings, 2D/3D layouts, and detailed working drawings for modular furniture and interior projects.
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, colors, hardware, and accessories in line with design intent and budget.
- Coordinate with clients, sales, and franchise teams to finalize designs and obtain approvals.
- Ensure designs comply with company standards, manufacturing capabilities, and site conditions.
- Review interior drawings, BOQs, and specifications to prepare accurate project cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed material, hardware, and labor costing for modular furniture and interior works.
- Use Aixperia software and other design-to-production tools to extract data for estimation and production planning.
- Maintain and update costing databases for materials, finishes, hardware, and vendor pricing.
- Prepare quotation sheets, cost break-ups, and client proposals.
- Identify cost-optimization opportunities without compromising design quality or functionality.
- Validate revised drawings, change orders, and updated estimates during project execution.
- Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure pricing accuracy and feasibility.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Interior Design / Civil / Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in interior design and estimation, preferably in modular furniture or interior fit-out projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and 2D/3D design tools; exposure to Aixperia or similar software is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of interior materials, joinery systems, modular furniture construction, and hardware fittings.
- Good understanding of costing principles, BOQs, and project budgets.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Attributes
- Hands-on knowledge of marine plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, PU finishes, and CNC-based manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail and a balanced approach to design creativity and cost control.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
