Job Description – Instrumentation Technician (Textile Industry)

Position: Instrumentation Technician
Department: Engineering / Maintenance
Industry Preference: Textile

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all instrumentation systems (sensors, controllers, transmitters, PLCs, SCADA, automation panels, etc.).
• Ensure smooth functioning of textile machinery (spinning, weaving, dyeing, processing, finishing, utilities) by monitoring and maintaining instrumentation & control systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for instrumentation and automation equipment to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose breakdown issues in control panels, sensors, temperature controllers, flow meters, pressure gauges, and other measuring instruments.
• Work closely with the electrical and mechanical maintenance team for resolving interlinked issues.
• Assist in new project installations, modifications, and upgrades of textile machinery instrumentation.
• Maintain proper documentation for calibration records, maintenance schedules, and spares inventory.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and compliance with company policies during all maintenance activities.
• Support energy efficiency and process optimization through proper instrumentation tuning and control.

Desired Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation & control systems related to textile machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with PLC, VFD, SCADA, sensors, transmitters, and automation devices.
• Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
• Awareness of safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.

Qualification & Experience:

• ITI / Diploma in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical (preferred).
• 2–5 years of experience in textile or process industry instrumentation maintenance.
• Experience with modern textile automation systems will be an added advantage.
