Job Description

A. Position Objective

To drive business growth in the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Ethical Business segments through inside sales, client engagement, and order fulfilment. The role requires identifying and converting business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring seamless end-to-end execution of orders by coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

B. Key Position Responsibilities

1. Business Development (API & Ethical Business)

  • Prospect, qualify, and generate leads through calls, emails, digital channels, and industry networks.
  • Develop opportunities for API sales (to manufacturers, traders, formulators) and ethical business (hospitals, doctors, channel partners).
  • Share product details, quotations, and proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and business terms within authority levels and close sales.

2. Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Achieve assigned sales targets (monthly/quarterly/annual) for API and ethical product portfolios.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and business conditions within defined authority levels.
  • Prepare and share quotations, proposals, and agreements.

3. Order Fulfilment & Coordination

  • Process confirmed orders and ensure all documentation (purchase orders, agreements, tax/GST, QA approvals) is accurate.
  • Liaise with supply chain, production, QA, and logistics to ensure timely product dispatch.
  • Track shipments, share delivery status with customers, and proactively resolve delays or bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with finance/accounts for invoices, payment follow-up, and credit control.
  • Maintain complete order execution records for compliance and audit.

4. Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain regular contact with existing and potential customers to strengthen relationships.
  • Handle inbound and outbound sales inquiries, ensuring timely resolution of customer queries.
  • Coordinate with operations, logistics, QA, and finance for seamless order execution.

5. Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Research and analyze competitor activities, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Provide inputs to marketing and sales leadership on promotional campaigns and product positioning.
  • Maintain accurate sales reports, pipeline updates, and CRM entries.

C. Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification:

    Bachelors degree in Pharmacy, Science, or Business (MBA preferred).
  • Experience:

    1-4 years of experience in business development / inside sales, with exposure to pharma sales & order fulfilment.
  • Additional Advantage:

    Experience handling pharma documentation, regulatory, or logistics
  • Work Travel:

    On-need basis

D. Key Skills and Competencies

  1. Knowledge of pharma APIs and ethical pharma marketing channels.
  2. Strong coordination skills across sales, supply chain, QA, and finance.
  3. Customer-centric approach with problem-solving abilities.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
  5. Proficiency in CRM, MS Excel, and sales reporting tools.
