Role Overview

The Industrial Sales Engineer is responsible for generating new business, managing existing clients, and providing technical solutions to customers in the industrial sector. The role demands strong technical knowledge, relationship-building ability, and a target-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in mines, iron & steel plants, OEMs, EPC contractors, and Cement, Pipes, Paint
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, upcoming projects, and competitor activities.
  • Generate leads and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.

2. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with plant managers, purchase heads, maintenance teams, and project engineers.
  • Conduct regular client visits, technical meetings, and presentations.
  • Provide accurate and timely quotations, proposals, and product information.

3. Technical Support

  • Understand customer technical requirements and suggest suitable products (electrical panels, VFD, switchgear, sensors, automation products, MCC/PCC, LT panels, etc.).
  • Coordinate with design/production teams for technical clarifications.
  • Conduct product demos, site surveys, and application support.

4. Sales Target Achievement

  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets as assigned.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on quotations and convert leads into orders.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules.

5. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with internal teams-design, production, logistics, accounts, and service.
  • Maintain CRM records, visit reports, and sales forecasts.
  • Provide weekly and monthly sales reports to management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma / B.Tech / B.E in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or related fields.

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of industrial electrical products, panels, motors, drives, switchgear, automation systems.
  • Ability to read SLDs, electrical drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Sales & Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and close deals.
  • Customer relationship management.
  • Time management and field visit discipline.

Experience

1-7 years in industrial sales (Electrical, Automation, Panel Building, Mining & Steel Industry preferred).
