Import And Export Manager

he Import and Export Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all international logistics operations, including the planning and coordination of import and export activities. This role ensures compliance with international trade regulations, optimizes shipping and logistics processes, and works closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, vendors, and internal departments to ensure efficient cross-border movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end import and export operations, including documentation, shipping, customs clearance, and delivery.
  
• Ensure compliance with international trade laws, regulations (e.g., customs, INCOTERMS, import/export restrictions), and company policies.
  
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, and regulatory agencies.
  
• Prepare and manage shipping and customs documentation such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, etc.
  
• Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues related to delays, demurrage, or customs holds.
  
• Negotiate freight and transportation rates with carriers and logistics service providers.
  
• Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize cost, efficiency, and service levels.
  
• Liaise with internal departments (procurement, finance, warehouse, sales) to align import/export activities with business needs.
  
• Maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions and ensure timely reporting.
  
• Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, tariffs, sanctions, and documentation requirements.
  
• Train and supervise import/export staff, if applicable.
  

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  
• Certifications in international trade (e.g., CILT, FIATA, IATA, or similar) are a plus.
  

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export operations or international logistics.
  
• Experience with customs regulations, HS codes, and INCOTERMS.
  
• Familiarity with trade compliance and international documentation.
  

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of global logistics and international shipping procedures.
  
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  
• Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office.
  
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills under time-sensitive situations.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  
• Language skills relevant to major trade regions (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic).
  
• Prior experience in a specific industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, electronics).
