Role Description:

This is a strategic middle management leadership role responsible for end-to-end management of seed plant operations, including cob drying, seed processing, and finished goods packing. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient functioning of the plant within the approved OPEX budget. The Plant Manager is accountable for executing supply planners packing and dispatch plans, delivering quality-compliant seeds to market, preventing sales loss, minimizing customer complaints, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and safety standards.

Qualification:

• Graduate / Postgraduate in Science
• B.E. / B.Tech from a recognized university

Experience:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in comprehensive plant operations including cob drying, seed processing, and packing, preferably in the seed industry.

Technical / Functional Competencies:

1. Deep knowledge of cob drying operations (moisture testing, airflow, drying time optimization, cob storage practices)
2. Proficiency in operating and managing drying, processing, and packing machinery
3. Ability to plan and execute drying and packing schedules in line with supply plans
4. Expertise in raw material (cob/bulk seed) and packing material planning
5. Strong inventory management (cob stock, bulk seed, FG, SAP reconciliation)
6. Capability to implement process improvements and achieve productivity gains
7. Expert user of ERP systems (preferably SAP) for inventory, production, and costing

Roles & Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

1. Drive safety-first culture across all stages of operations—drying, processing, and packing
2. Ensure all statutory, safety, and operational licenses are valid and in place

Cob Drying Operations

1. Plan daily and weekly cob drying schedules based on arrivals and moisture levels
2. Monitor cob stacking, drying cycles, temperature, and airflow to maintain seed quality
3. Maintain drying records and moisture data, ensuring traceability and compliance
4. Coordinate cob-to-bulk transition with minimal losses and optimum throughput

Processing & Packing Operations

1. Develop and execute weekly & daily packing plans as per supply planner guidance
2. Ensure physical vs SAP inventory consistency for cob stock, bulk seed, and FG
3. Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure only unrestricted stock is issued
4. Maintain operational readiness of all machinery and equipment
5. Implement process controls at every stage to avoid operational/documentation deviations
6. Drive timely and accurate packaging and dispatch of finished goods

Operational Efficiency & Quality

1. Lead plant productivity improvement initiatives to achieve higher FG recoveries
2. Ensure finished goods meet quality norms, minimizing internal and external complaints
3. Track and reduce variable costs through improved process efficiency
4. Engage shop-floor teams regularly for performance, quality, and compliance
