Emergency duties: To be familiar with the location and use of emergency resuscitation equipment. To respond immediately to clinical emergencies within all departments in the hospital and in the absence of a more experienced medical practitioner, lead the resuscitation team during emergency situations. In an emergency situation, undertake emergency investigations and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and protocols and/or as directed by the patient’s consultant. The RMO will be competent with Tracheal intubations, intravenous and central line cannulation, defibrillation and cardio version, providing emergency medication, providing resuscitation inclusive of pacing and pericardiocentesis and care for the patient post resuscitation. Departmental Duties: Be present and contactable within the hospital at all times during periods of duty and to provide continuous service in conjunction with other RMO’s across the 24 hour period. To clerk and assess all emergency admissions on the request of the admitting consultant and/or the senior nurse in charge of the ward/hospital. To see/treat patients at the request of consultant or nursing staff. To liaise with the senior nurse in charge of the ward/s for a nursing handover at least once per day and then as required for updates. · Incharge of the CSSD department. · Responsible for day to day functioning of the department · To supervise the deptt., allocation of duties of CSSD Assistant/CSSD Tech. · To provide sterile instruments and other sterile items used in patient care. · To maintain records of the effectiveness of the procedures used in the disinfection and sterilization. · Monitor and enforce controls necessary to prevent nosocomial infection according to infection control polices. · operating and monitoring all mechanical equipment by following set procedures and quality checks. · Identifying and reporting equipment breakages and faults and maintaining all records relevant to these machines. · Reporting to Manager/Facility Director Decontamination Sterilising Service missing or damaged articles or equipment and any malfunction of electrical equipment. · Understanding and using appropriate work practices to maintain a clear, orderly and safe environment. · Maintaining an understanding of Operating Rooms, ward and department requirements and liaising effectively with staff. · Participating in Quality Improvement activities, including the identification of performance standards and increased efficiencies. · Maintains inventory of the supplies and equipments for the smooth functioning of the department. · Stay updated regarding newer developments in the field of sterilization practice in the interest of the efficiency, economy, accuracy and provide a better quality of patient care. · Providing safe environment for the patients and staff. · Organize workshops and training programmes for the department staff.
