Position: ICU Technician Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Location: Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, Santiniketan, West Bengal Job Type: Full-Time

Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital is looking for a highly skilled and compassionate ICU Technician to join our dedicated critical care team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and providing the highest level of care to critically ill patients in our state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit.

Job Summary

The ICU Technician is a key member of the healthcare team responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced medical equipment in the Intensive Care Unit. This role works closely with nurses and physicians to monitor patient status, provide technical support, and ensure a safe and efficient environment for our most vulnerable patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Monitoring & Support:
• Set up and operate complex medical equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and dialysis machines.
• Continuously monitor patient vital signs and equipment readouts, promptly reporting any changes or alarms to the nursing and medical staff.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfers, and mobility as directed by the clinical team to ensure comfort and prevent complications.
• Collect and handle patient specimens (blood, urine, etc.) for laboratory analysis as required.
• Equipment Management:
• Perform daily checks, calibration, and cleaning of all ICU equipment to ensure proper functioning and readiness.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions effectively and perform minor repairs or coordinate with the biomedical engineering department for major issues.
• Ensure that all equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
• Clinical & Administrative Assistance:
• Assist medical staff during emergency procedures, such as CPR and intubation, by preparing and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and supply inventory.
• Manage the inventory of medical supplies and disposables within the ICU, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Safety and Team Collaboration:
• Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
• Participate in departmental training, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) in Critical Care Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience in an ICU or critical care setting is strongly preferred.
• Certifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of ICU equipment, especially mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion devices.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and managing critical care technology.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

Pay: ₹178,261.96 - ₹383,074.37 per year
