A Jewellery Hostess (also known as a Showroom Host or Greeter) is the primary point of contact in a jewellery store, responsible for creating a welcoming and luxurious experience for guests. This role is distinct from a sales associate or a bench jeweler, as the main focus is on hospitality and guest flow rather than direct sales or production.  Core Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities of a female jewellery hostess include: Greeting and Welcoming: Providing a warm, friendly first impression to all clients and visitors as they enter the showroom. Guest Management: Managing client flow, coordinating with sales associates to ensure personalized service, and managing any waiting areas, which may include offering refreshments. Inquiry Handling: Answering phone calls and addressing initial customer inquiries about the store's collections, promotions, hours, or policies. Showroom Ambiance: Maintaining the front-of-house area, entryway, and displays to ensure they are clean, organized, and visually appealing, reflecting the brand's luxury image. Clienteling Support: Assisting with capturing customer details for CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems, managing visitor records, and supporting special events, private appointments, or VIP client visits. Team Coordination: Liaising with the sales team, management, and other staff to communicate special requests and ensure a smooth overall customer journey.  Required Skills and Qualifications Successful candidates typically possess: Experience: Previous experience (1-3 years is common) in luxury retail, hospitality, guest relations, or a front-office role is often required. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with a discerning clientele. Presentation: A polished appearance, professional grooming, and etiquette suitable for a luxury environment. Customer Service Mindset: A confident, attentive, and service-oriented approach to ensure high customer satisfaction. Organizational Skills: The ability to manage guest flow, track arrivals, and coordinate tasks efficiently. Problem-Solving: The capacity to calmly and professionally handle guest complaints or minor issues, escalating to management when necessary.  Career Distinction While a hostess ensures a welcoming environment, other roles have different focuses: Jewellery Sales Associate/Consultant: Guides customers in selecting and purchasing pieces, provides detailed product information, and works to meet sales targets. Bench Jeweler: Designs, creates, repairs, and cleans jewellery pieces, working with tools, metals, and gemstones.
