Horticultural Manager

Job Summary

The Manager-Horticulture Maintenance will be responsible for planning, supervising, and maintaining the overall landscape, gardens, and green areas across multiple premises. This role ensures high-quality upkeep of lawns, trees, shrubs, indoor/outdoor plants, and irrigation systems while aligning with environmental and aesthetic standards.

Responsibilities

· Oversee daily maintenance of lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and potted plants.

· Ensure proper pruning, weeding, fertilization, and pest control as per seasonal requirements.

· Implement and monitor sustainable horticultural practices.

· Supervise gardeners and contract staff across multiple premises.

· Coordinate with vendors for supply of plants, fertilizers, soil, and garden tools.

· Ensure vendor performance and compliance with agreed service levels (SLA).

· Monitor irrigation systems, sprinklers, and drip lines to ensure adequate watering.

· Maintain garden equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers) in working condition.

· Assist in preparing annual horticulture maintenance plans and budgets.

· Maintain inventory of plants, manure, and other consumables.

· Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines for horticultural activities.

· Maintain cleanliness of all green areas and safe storage of chemicals/pesticides.

· Prepare monthly reports on garden condition, plant survival rate, and maintenance work.

· Keep records of pest control schedules, plant replacements, and water consumption.

Key Skills & Competencies:

· Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, soil management, and plant care.

· Ability to manage multiple sites and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

· Good vendor management and negotiation skills.

· Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic garden equipment.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Good communication skills and basic computer proficiency (MS Office).

Qualifications & Experience:

· Diploma / Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field.

· 3–5 years of experience in landscaping or horticulture maintenance (preferably multi-site).

· Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices and local plant species is an advantage.
