Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Develop and implement cost-effective logistics strategies aligned with organizations strategy to reduce overall freight costs
Develop contingency plans to mitigate the impact of unforeseen circumstances on vessel schedules.
Analyze freight expenditure, negotiate with carriers, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize transportation contracts.
Implement strategies to reduce the percentage of vessel misses.
Monitor vessel schedules, collaborate with shipping partners, and address operational issues impacting vessel arrivals.
Manage and minimize truck detention times at plants and ports.
Collaborate with warehouse and manufacturing teams to streamline loading and unloading processes.
Implement tracking mechanisms and penalties for excessive detention times
Establish and enforce Truck/Lorry Turnaround Time (TAT) standards.
Monitor and analyze TAT metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
Collaborate with logistics partners and stakeholders to ensure TAT compliance.

Qualifications

MBA/PGDM in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus
Familiarity with management best practices Skills and Competencies
Proven experience in logistics and transportation management, with a focus on cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Analytical mindset and proficiency in logistics software and tools.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
