Head of Data & Analytics

Business Description: The Head of Data & Analytics role is critical to advancing the organization's data-driven decision-making capabilities. By providing strategic oversight and technical expertise, this role ensures the effective delivery of high-impact insights and fosters innovation through data-driven processes. The Head of Data & Analytics will empower cross-functional teams with actionable intelligence, optimize data infrastructure, and ensure best practices in analytics, directly contributing to improved operational efficiency and business outcomes.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

• Oversee the development and delivery of data-driven insights, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.

• Manage multiple data projects, setting priorities, timelines, and deliverables.

• Engage with stakeholders to understand business challenges, translating them into analytical questions and actionable insights.

• Develop, implement, and maintain best practices in data science development processes, including code quality assurance (QA) and documentation.

• Optimize data workflows and infrastructure with Snowflake, ensuring efficient data storage, processing, and retrieval.

• Design and build data visualizations in Tableau to effectively communicate insights.

• Utilize SQL and Python to build data models, perform analyses, and automate processes.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics.

• 2+ years of experience with Snowflake.

• 2+ years of experience with Tableau.

• 1+ year of experience managing and training analytics staff.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL,
  Python.

• Data lifecycle management experience

• Proven experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

• Strong experience engaging directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver insights.

• Familiarity with code QA, Git version control, and best practices in data science development processes.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms beyond Snowflake (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and deployment strategies.

• Background in agile project management methodologies.

• Understanding of data governance and compliance practices.

The role is located either in South Africa (Cape Town) or India
