Job Description

Strategic Leadership & Compliance: Develop and implement long-term environmental strategies aligned with business goals and regulatory frameworks. Ensure full compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations (MoEF, CPCB, SPCB), permits, and standards. Lead the interface with regulatory authorities for clearances, consents, audits, and inspections. Represent the plant in public hearings, environmental impact assessments, and stakeholder meetings. Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee regular monitoring of air emissions, water discharges, waste management, noise levels, and ambient environmental parameters. Ensure timely submission of reports such as Form V, Environmental Statement, Hazardous Waste Returns, and other statutory documents. Drive the use of advanced tools (CEMS, CEQMS, etc.) for continuous monitoring and data analysis. Waste & Water Management: Lead initiatives in ash utilization, effluent treatment, zero liquid discharge, and waste minimization. Oversee implementation and maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), and water recycling systems. Pollution Control & Mitigation: Drive implementation of pollution control technologies (ESP, FGD systems, low NOx burners, etc.) in line with regulatory norms. Monitor performance and ensure regular maintenance of environmental control equipment. Audit & Risk Management: Conduct regular internal and third-party environmental audits and risk assessments. Implement corrective and preventive action plans to close audit findings. Lead emergency preparedness planning related to environmental incidents. Sustainability & ESG: Develop and promote environmental sustainability programs such as biodiversity conservation, carbon footprint reduction, and green energy initiatives. Support ESG reporting, CDP, and other corporate sustainability disclosures. Team Management & Capacity Building: Lead, mentor, and develop the environment management team. Conduct regular training programs for plant personnel on environmental compliance, emergency response, and best practices. Key Skills & Competencies: In-depth knowledge of thermal power plant operations and their environmental implications. Thorough understanding of Indian environmental regulations and international standards (ISO 14001, IFC Guidelines, etc.). Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams. Excellent communication, regulatory liaison, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in using environmental monitoring and reporting tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
