Role & responsibilities Ensure compliance with the Mines Act, CMR 2017, DGMS guidelines, environmental and labor laws . Maintain all statutory registers, returns, and records as required under mining law. Ensure the mine is operated under valid statutory approvals, clearances , and licenses. Oversee day-to-day mining operations including excavation, hauling, drilling, blasting, and dispatch of coal. Implement and supervise mine plans including annual, monthly, and daily production targets. Ensure optimum deployment and utilization of equipment and manpower . Ensure that all activities are carried out safely and responsibly , in line with DGMS and internal safety policies. Supervise the implementation of the Mine Safety Management Plan (MSMP) and risk assessment processes . Ensure proper functioning of gas detection systems , ground control measures , and other safety equipment. Approve and monitor blasting operations and high-risk activities. Assign duties to subordinates such as overmen, foremen, safety officers, engineers , etc., and monitor their compliance. Ensure all statutory personnel are qualified and available on-site as per regulations. Foster a safety-first culture and ensure training of all workers in safe work procedures and emergency preparedness . Ensure the coal mine meets or exceeds its production and OB removal targets as per the Annual Business Plan. Monitor daily performance and adjust operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Report, investigate, and take preventive measures for accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences . Submit reports to DGMS and company management in a timely manner. Develop and implement an effective Emergency Response Plan (ERP) . Ensure regular mock drills , fire safety audits, and availability of first-aid and firefighting equipment . Ensure proper dust suppression, water management, reclamation , and waste handling . Implement environmental management plans (EMPs) as per conditions of environmental clearance. Coordinate with: Regulatory bodies (DGMS, Pollution Control Board, Forest Dept.) Corporate management Local communities and stakeholders (CSR, R&R, etc.) Represent the mine during inspections, audits, and statutory inquiries . Drive initiatives for cost reduction, productivity improvement, digitalization , and adoption of best mining practices. Promote innovation and training to build a more skilled workforce. Preferred candidate profile Applicant should hold a degree in Mining Engineering. preferably with a Post Graduate qualification in Management and have 8-12 years post qualification experience in the coal mining industry. Role & responsibilities Responsible for overall occupational safety and fire protection across the 3400 MW power plant and associated washeries. Ensure full statutory compliance with all safety regulations, including those related to fire safety and occupational health, as mandated by the Factory Inspectorate and other authorities. Liaise with the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCOE) for timely license renewal and compliance related to hazardous materials such as Hydrogen and Chlorine. Prepare, update, and ensure timely approval of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), including its plant-wide implementation. Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and ensure implementation of risk control measures for all high-risk areas. Organize periodic testing and certification of lifting tools, tackles, pressure vessels, and other statutory equipment. Oversee the availability, quality, and proper usage of PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) across the site. Plan and conduct mock drills and emergency response exercises involving fire scenarios, chemical releases, and other emergency conditions. Ensure operational readiness and health of all fire-fighting systems and equipment, including the fire stations at JPL and CHP (O). Lead fire safety awareness and training programs for employees and contract workers to build a proactive fire prevention culture. Conduct and facilitate safety training programs, including induction, job-specific, and refresher courses for all personnel on-site.
