Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Corporate Outreach and Relationship Management
- Develop and execute a comprehensive placement strategy to achieve 100 percent placement assistance for eligible students across all streams.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with CXOs, HR Heads, and Talent Acquisition leaders in Tier-1 organizations, MNCs, Core Engineering firms, and Financial Institutions.
- Specifically target and onboard recruiters for niche technical domains (AI/ML, Robotics, Data Science) and specialized service sectors (Hotel Management, Commerce).
- Spearhead industry-academia partnership initiatives, including Centers of Excellence, MOUs, and industry-sponsored labs.
2. Student Training and Competency Development
- Assess the employability gap between academic curriculum and industry requirements.
- Design and implement rigorous pre-placement training programs focusing on technical coding, aptitude, soft skills, and domain-specific knowledge.
- Collaborate with Heads of Departments to align academic projects and electives with current market trends.
- Provide individual career counseling and resume-building workshops to ensure students meet industry standards.
3. Placement Operations and Process Management
- Plan and manage the annual placement calendar, ensuring conflict-free scheduling of campus drives.
- Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, from inviting companies and coordinating logistics to final offer letter management.
- Maintain a robust, data-driven placement portal to track student progress, company feedback, and placement statistics.
- Ensure strict compliance with placement policies and ethical recruitment standards.
4. Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor the placement department staff, placement officers, and student placement coordinators.
- Manage the departmental budget, allocating resources effectively for travel, hospitality, and training tools.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Masters Degree in Management (MBA/PGDM in HR/Marketing) or a Masters in Engineering/Technology from a premier institution.
- A PhD in a relevant field is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience
- Total Experience: Minimum 15 to 20 years of professional experience.
- Core Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of specific experience leading the Placement function in a reputed University, Autonomous College, or Group of Institutions.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in Corporate HR, Talent Acquisition, or University Relations within the IT, Manufacturing, or Consulting sectors is highly advantageous.
Subject-Specific and Technical Expertise
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the recruitment landscape for Engineering (CSE, ISE, ECE, AI/ML), Management (Finance, Marketing, HR), and Commerce.
- Technical Recruitment Insight: Familiarity with technical assessment platforms (e.g., HackerRank, AMCAT, CoCubes) and the specific hiring mandates of product-based vs. service-based IT companies.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of NAAC and NBA criteria regarding placement and student progression metrics.
Performance Expectations (Key Performance Indicators)
- Placement Percentage: Achieve year-on-year growth in the percentage of placed students, targeting 90 percent plus for eligible candidates.
- Salary Quality: consistently increase the average and median salary packages offered to students.
- Recruiter Base: Expand the network of active recruiters by a minimum of 20 percent annually, adding prestigious "Dream Companies" to the roster.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: Maintain high satisfaction scores from both corporate recruiters (regarding student quality) and students (regarding opportunities provided).
