Education Qualification: M.Sc. or equivalent in Life Sciences (Molecular Genetics or Human Genetics or Life Sciences with an understanding of Cancer Genetics).
Experience and skills:
- 1-2 years in genetic counseling for cancer patients (breast cancer preferable) and associated research.
- Basic understanding of Pedigree Analysis, Genetic Data Curation, and Genetics related data analysis and data management.
- Scientific communication skills with demonstrable ability in manuscript preparation
- Proficient in Office products - excel (navigation, filters, use of formulae, etc), word, PowerPoint (creating small diagrams to explain a process, how to make clean and clear presentations, etc).
BGCI Level II Certified Candidates will be preferred.
Job Purpose: To be an integral part of the Clinical and Research team, focusing on the genetic counselling and testing requirements of breast cancer patients and their families, while actively contributing to research endeavours.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Coordinate genetic counseling for breast cancer patients and their families, addressing psychosocial needs and grief and bereavement management.
- Collect and maintain pedigree information and detailed medical and family history of patients for counseling sessions.
- Maintain and monitor patient records and service documents.
- Participate in academic activities including seminars, case presentations, and collaborative programs.
Research Role:
- Update and maintain the genetics database
- Lead assigned research projects, and contribute to development of genetics related projects and manuscripts
- Publish at least two papers annually in collaboration with the research team.
- Contribute to clinical data curation for other projects
- Prepare write-ups, short reports as required
- Prepare grant proposals and plan/executes projects in alignment with research objectives.
Please note this position will also be a locum for other counseling co-ordination at the centre.

Working hours: 6 days a week, 10 am - 5:30 pm.
