This on-site role is based in India and supports multidisciplinary teams to improve surgical outcomes and patient safety.Role & Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical assessment and deliver safe, evidence-based general surgical care for adult and pediatric patients across elective and emergency settings.
- Perform a wide range of operative procedures (open and laparoscopic), including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections and emergency exploratory laparotomy.
- Lead pre-operative planning and post-operative management, including ICU/HDU rounds, complication management and structured discharge planning.
- Respond to on‑call emergencies, trauma activations and mass-casualty incidents; stabilise patients and coordinate timely surgical interventions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consent processes and operative notes; ensure compliance with infection control and patient-safety protocols.
- Collaborate with anaesthesiology, nursing, radiology and allied specialties; mentor junior surgeons and contribute to morbidity & mortality reviews and clinical audits.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MS/MD in General Surgery or equivalent postgraduate qualification recognised in India.
- Valid registration with the Medical Council (State Medical Council/NMC) and eligibility to practice in India.
- Proven hands-on experience in general surgical procedures and emergency/trauma surgery in an on-site hospital setting.
- Competence in laparoscopic techniques and use of modern operating theatre technology.
- Strong clinical decision-making, perioperative management skills and ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and documentation skills; familiarity with clinical governance and patient-safety frameworks.
Preferred
- Super-specialty exposure (MCh) or fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, colorectal or trauma surgery.
- Experience leading surgical teams, mentoring trainees and driving quality-improvement initiatives.
- Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or equivalent and basic/advanced life-support training.
