JOB PURPOSE:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing operations, and driving growth within the Agro Logistics, Food Processing, and Cold Chain Logistics sectors. This position involves managing a diverse range of functions including Agri supply chain management, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and business development. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure the efficient and safe movement of agricultural products from sourcing to distribution while maintaining product quality and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for the Agro Logistics, Food Processing, and Cold Chain Logistics division in alignment with the organization's overall objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership and set clear goals, targets, and performance indicators for the division.
- Identify emerging industry trends, technologies, and opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and maintain a competitive edge.
- Identify market trends, opportunities, and potential challenges, and adapt the business strategy accordingly
Operations Management:
- Responsible for the P&L of the Agro vertical
- Oversee end-to-end Agri supply chain both commercially and operationally, including procurement (EXIM), sustainable sourcing, transportation, storage, quality control, production processing, and distribution of agricultural products.
- Identify and implement strategic projects to improve logistics operations for direct purchases from farms across the country, including cost analysis, routing, time in transit, shipping modes, and LTL and FTL carrier mix.
- Bring new perspective in selling own products, ready-to-cook items, importing fresh vegetables, health supplement organic products, etc.
- Techno processing, and responsible for providing technical assistance in the area of the functioning of markets, Agri-logistics, and food distribution systems, such as the development of agribusiness logistics centers, market infrastructure, and the corresponding management systems.
- Building relationships through international networking in the food vertical.
- Ensure Service Level Agreements are met and in compliance with defined agreements.
- Collaborate with production, quality control, and distribution teams to streamline processes and optimize resource utilization.
- New Product Development, R&D & Innovation: Build & guide a highly innovative & creative team for cutting edge products & processes for the evolving market & customer needs.
- Responsible for the brand visibility of the TransGreen food chain brand globally
- Help to establish and/or strengthen Food Processing and specialized Farming Projects
- Supports the development of inclusive and sustainable food systems involving producers, their organizations, other private sector actors, civil society organizations and governments.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, and other industry stakeholders.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance protocols to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of relevant regulations, certifications, and guidelines pertaining to food safety, transportation, and cold storage.
Business Development:
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to expand the company's presence in the Agro Logistics and food processing sectors.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, farmers, producers, and government bodies, to ensure a seamless Agri supply chain.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the division.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality or safety.
Reporting and Communication:
- Provide regular updates and reports to the executive leadership team on divisional performance, challenges, and opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organization professionally in industry forums and events.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or masters degree in business, Agri Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in Agro Logistics, food processing, or cold chain logistics, with a track record of driving operational excellence and business growth.
- Strong knowledge of Agri supply chain management, cold chain logistics, and quality assurance practices within the agricultural and food industry.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
