General Manager - Logistics ( Steel Plant )

Experience in-Bound and Out-Bound logistics.

Optimize use of all kind of mode of transports Rail / Road / Sea.

The candidate should be having relevant experience of minimum 18 years in manufacturing industry

Key

• Handling Inbound & outbound logistics, bulk raw material handling by rail and road both. Railway siding management, inward & outward rakes handling and indent planning.

• Monitoring and co-ordination with port offices for movement of Imported Raw Material from different ports to plant.

• Coordination with Suppliers, Mines office and Transporters for timely movement of material by rail and road.

• Conducting tenders for transportation Contracts of Raw Materials and Finished products.

• Finalizing Scope of work of Handling and Transportation Contractors engaged for Rail and Road Logistics.

• Liasioning with Govt. officials like Mining offices, Railways etc. for statutory compliances and necessary permissions.

• Co-ordination with Raw Material Suppliers, transporters, handling contractors and Inspection agencies on daily basis for quantity & quality improvement.

• Ensure timely supply of material from various suppliers. Process improvements in respect of Logistics Management.

• Evaluating past performance of contracts/transporters and carrying out rate analysis. Review and assessment of vendors performance on periodically and evolving vendor

Development System :-

• Finalization of handling contracts, transportation contracts, freight negotiation. Coordination with Railways & Transporters for inbound and outbound logistics. Planning, managing, controlling all the jobs related to logistics.

Cost analysis of logistics :-

• Co-ordination with local trucks association for timely supply of trucks.

• Co-ordinate with Finance & accounts team for timely payment of the vendors.

• Co-ordinate with Marketing and Production Department for effective dispatch planning. Managing the in-plant weighbridges for correct weighment of material.

• Broad-based expertise in heading all logistics functions including cargo planning, storage, distribution, payment realizations & customer support as well as negotiations with transporters for ensuring cost effective transport solutions & clearances

• Excels in setting up and maintaining storage areas as well as managing infrastructure for smooth flow of warehouse operations; skilled in ensuring optimum inventory levels to achieve maximum cost savings

• Recognized for successfully optimizing logistics operations, resolving concerns, and implementing standard operating procedures to maintain service quality and efficiency

• Resourceful in managing day-to-day relationship with vendors, transporters, shipping lines & freight forwarders from placement of order till delivery of shipment, rate negotiations as to ensure achievement of service and quality norms for smooth supply of required items
