Job Title: General Manager Human Resources

Location: Mumbai, India Reports To: Managing Director

As we scale up, we seek a strategic yet people-oriented HR leader to align our human capital strategy with our growth ambitions.

Position Overview:

The General Manager HR will serve as a key partner to the leadership team, leading all aspects of human resources from core HR operations to organizational development and strategic business support. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of empathy and execution, building a performance-driven, people-centric culture that supports business growth and enhances employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with business leadership to align HR strategy with business goals, particularly around sales growth and market expansion.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on people strategy, organization structure, and change management.

  • Drive culture building initiatives that balance performance with employee well-being.

2. HR Business Partnering

  • Work closely with sales and operational teams to ensure talent support for achieving business goals.

  • Strengthen manpower planning, capability development, and performance management across functions.

  • Drive employee engagement, motivation, and retention programs tailored to a dynamic sales-oriented environment.

3. Core HR Operations

  • Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, compensation & benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee relations.

  • Ensure robust HR systems, policies, and processes that are transparent, scalable, and compliant with statutory norms.

  • Implement effective HRMS and data-driven HR analytics for decision-making.

4. Talent Management & Development

  • Lead leadership development, learning interventions, and succession planning.

  • Identify skill gaps and implement structured training for sales, service, and support functions.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and collaboration.

5. Culture & Communication

  • Reinforce the company's values and culture of integrity, teamwork, and customer-centricity.

  • Facilitate open communication and feedback mechanisms across levels.

  • Support leadership in building trust and engagement with teams.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant HR experience, with 5 years in a HR leadership capacity.

  • Industry Background: Preferably from building materials, consumer durables, interiors, or other product-based organizations with pan-India operations.

  • Education: MBA / PGDM in HR or equivalent qualification from a reputed institute.

  • Should be willing to Travel across India to various store locations.

  • Skills & Attributes:

oStrong business acumen with ability to balance people and performance priorities.

oProven ability to lead HR in a sales-driven, entrepreneurial environment.

oExcellent interpersonal and influencing skills.

oHands-on, strategic thinker with high emotional intelligence.

  • While not a limiting factor, preferred age for the candidate is between 38-43 years.
