Mandatory Skills: GCP,SQL Detailed JD A Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Data Architect with experience in migrating of legacy platform to Cloud SQL (preferred) would typically have a robust set of skills and expertise, including: Key Skills & Expertise: 1. **Cloud SQL Expertise**: - Deep knowledge of **Google Cloud SQL**, which is a fully managed relational database service that supports databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. - Experience in designing scalable, highly available, and secure database solutions on Cloud SQL. 2. **Migration Strategies**: - Strong experience in **data migration** from mainframe databases (like DB2 or IMS) to modern cloud-based relational databases. - Knowledge of **ETL tools** (e.g., **Google Cloud Dataflow**, **Apache Beam**) for extracting, transforming, and loading mainframe data to Cloud SQL. - Familiarity with **Database Migration Service** (DMS) in GCP for automated database migrations from legacy systems to Cloud SQL. 3. **Data Modeling**: - Ability to translate mainframe data structures (which may use COBOL or other legacy formats) to a relational schema that fits Cloud SQL’s SQL-based architecture. - Expertise in normalizing and optimizing data models for Cloud SQL environments. (must have) - Represent and seek approval of the Data Model in HSBC Data Architecture forum - Create and maintain the Data Dictionary 4. **Data Integration and Transformation**: - Proficiency in integrating data from different sources, ensuring data consistency and accuracy during migration. - Use of **Google Cloud Storage**, **BigQuery**, or other tools for intermediate data storage and analysis during migration. 5. **Cloud Architecture and Design**: - Architecting and designing highly available, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure for running Cloud SQL databases. - Ensuring that the design can scale horizontally or vertically as needed and optimizing for cost-efficiency. 6. **Performance Tuning and Optimization**: - Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and configuring Cloud SQL to handle high-throughput workloads. - Monitoring tools such as **Google Cloud Operations** suite (formerly Stackdriver) for real-time performance tracking.
