GCP Cloud Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Architect & Deploy GCP Infrastructure
• Build VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, Cloud Routers, NAT, and interconnects.
• Implement workload migrations to GCP across Compute Engine, GKE, and Cloud Run.
• Automate Using Infrastructure-as-Code
• Create and maintain Terraform modules for GCP services.
• Automate deployment pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Manage Compute & Containerized Workloads
• Administer GKE clusters, node pools, autoscaling, and service mesh configurations.
• Deploy VMs with custom images, autoscaling groups, and instance templates.
• Implement Cloud Security Best Practices
• Design IAM least-privilege models and service identities.
• Enforce security controls using VPC-SC, CMEK, Cloud Armor, and SCC (Security Command Center).
• Manage secrets with Secret Manager and KMS.
• Optimize Networking & Traffic Flow
• Configure load balancing (Global HTTPS LB, Internal LB, TCP/UDP).
• Integrate Cloud CDN, Cloud DNS, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, Interconnect).
• Manage Storage, Databases & Data Pipelines
• Configure Cloud Storage buckets, lifecycle policies, and multi-region DR strategies.
• Deploy and tune Cloud SQL, Firestore, Bigtable, or BigQuery as needed.
• Implement data ingestion pipelines with Pub/Sub and Dataflow.
• Monitoring, Logging & SRE Best Practices
• Implement observability using Cloud Logging, Monitoring, Trace, and Error Reporting.
• Set SLIs/SLOs and drive incident response and postmortems.
• Cost & Performance Optimization
• Analyze billing reports; enforce budgets and alerts.
• Apply rightsizing, committed-use discounts, and architecture optimizations.
• Collaboration & Documentation
• Work with architects, developers, and security teams to design cloud-native solutions.
• Produce high-quality architectural diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in GCP core services (IAM, VPC, Compute, GKE, Storage, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub).
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD, and Linux administration.
• Strong TCP/IP, networking, and DNS knowledge.
• Familiarity with SRE practices, incident management, and cloud observability.
• Experience with DevOps tooling: Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Cloud Build, Helm.
• Working knowledge of security frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001, NIST).
• Google certifications (Good to have):
• Professional Cloud Architect
• Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
