For postgraduates, we run the MSc in Fusion Energy and lead the two EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training in Fusion. For professionals from the fusion and adjacent sectors, we run the Fusion Industry School. Now in its fourth year, the School enables industry partners to enhance the skills of their engineers and other professionals who don’t have a fusion background. Collaboration with the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and the University of Oxford, we deliver two 4-day programmes annually. These feature lectures, discussions, and networking opportunities, including talks and panel sessions with a wide range of experts from industry, academia, policy-making, and regulators. Because the Fusion Industry School recently received funding from the UKAEA’s FOSTER Programme (Fusion Opportunities in Skills, Training, Education and Research) to support the growth of current activities and develop additional training streams based on market requirements.

Role

The candidate will be in the administration team for the Fusion CDT. You will spend the majority of your time on project coordination and administration of the Fusion Industry School. This involves working closely with the Director of the Fusion Industry School, another part-time FIS Manager, and the wider organising team across the University of York, University of Oxford, and UK Atomic Energy Authority. You will spend the remainder of your time supporting the administration of the Fusion Power CDT.

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed

You will have:
  • Experience in a busy administrative or support role with demonstrable experience of inbox administration and data entry
  • Experience of events of programme management
  • Level 3 qualification including Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Ability to take responsibility for delivering defined work initiatives
  • Ability to accurately record, analyse, interpret and report information/data
  • Ability to use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
