Role Description We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist to support the migration of a SQL Server-based data warehouse to Azure Synapse Analytics . This freelance role requires deep expertise in advanced SQL, performance tuning, and converting complex stored procedures into scalable solutions on the Azure cloud. The ideal candidate must also be comfortable writing Python scripts to support ETL processes, data transformation, or orchestration as needed. Key Responsibilities Analyze existing SQL Server database structures, stored procedures, and views Rewrite and optimize complex T-SQL logic for Azure Synapse compatibility Migrate data objects, datasets, and queries into Azure Synapse Write Python scripts to support data transformation, orchestration, or automation Ensure performance tuning and efficient query execution in Synapse Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of migrated logic Conduct validation, testing, and troubleshooting during and after migration Required Skills and Experience 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server and advanced T-SQL Proven experience migrating workloads to Azure Synapse Analytics Strong understanding of Synapse architecture, pipelines, and SQL pool performance tuning Experience rewriting or optimizing complex stored procedures Proficiency in Python scripting for ETL and data orchestration tasks Familiarity with Azure Data Factory or similar orchestration tools Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in large-scale data warehouse projects Knowledge of DevOps practices for deployment and version control Familiarity with Azure Monitor or Log Analytics for Synapse monitoring
