Fish feed Formulator

Role Description

This is a full-time/ part time role for a Fish Feed Formulator located in Kolkata, India. The role involves formulation of fish feed products, conducting research and development (R&D) activities, and transferring laboratory innovations into practical applications. The Fish Feed Formulator will also be responsible for utilizing laboratory skills to analyze feed components and ensure quality control in formulations.

5–10 years of relevant experience in fish feed formulation, including sinking, floating, and polyculture feed types.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or advanced degree in Aquaculture, Animal Nutrition, or a related field.
• Candidates with a background in Microbiology will also be considered.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for fish feed formulation and product development.
• Assess, evaluate, and design fish feed formulations based on locally available ingredients, including analysis of ingredient quality, hygiene, and uniformity.
• Conduct laboratory tests and field assessments to ensure feed quality and performance.
• Establish feed formulation specifications and ensure adherence to technical and nutritional standards.
• Define raw material specifications, conduct suitability reviews, and oversee testing processes.
• Analyze competitor products, pricing, and performance to guide formulation and pricing strategies.
• Lead new product development initiatives and internal research processes tailored to different markets and climatic conditions.
• Collaborate with sales and distribution teams to develop communication and usage guidelines for dealers and customers.
• Formulate pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning, profitability, and market growth.
• Plan and execute successful product launches and market introduction strategies.
• Monitor emerging trends in feed enzymes, nutrition, and raw material sourcing to enhance formulation effectiveness.
• Coordinate with test farms for performance trials and continuous product improvement.
