Finance Controller

Role & responsibilities

An experienced and proactive Finance Controller with a strong grounding in finance operations, compliance, and business partnering. Youll report to the Head of Finance and lead a team of up to 10, ensuring financial rigor, reporting accuracy, and regulatory adherence as the company scales, while actively collaborating with cross-functional departments to support business objectives.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, timely book closure, and preparation of financial statements.
  
• Ensure statutory compliance with Income Tax, GST, TDS, Companies Act, and related filings.
  
• Coordinate and manage statutory, internal, and tax audits.
  
• Manage ROC filings and ensure ongoing MCA compliance for private companies.
  

Controllership & Internal Controls

• Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks.
  
• Supervise payables, receivables, reconciliations, and banking operations.
  
• Lead payroll compliance and TDS filings.
  
• Support drafting and vetting of agreements, incentive structures, and contracts in coordination with legal advisors to ensure alignment with internal policies and legal compliance.
  

Strategic Support & Investor Engagement

• Support fundraising and investor due diligence processes.
  
• Maintain investor data room, MIS, and board reporting.
  
• Assist in financial modelling, business plans, and sensitivity analysis for fundraising.
  

FP&A and Cost Controls

• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial dashboards.
  
• Conduct variance analysis and highlight key risks/opportunities to management.
  
• Partner with business teams to drive financial discipline across functions.
  

Process Automation & System Improvement

• Implement and optimize use of financial systems (Zoho Books, Tally, etc.).
  
• Drive automation of routine processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  

Preferred candidate profile

8 years of post-qualification experience in startups or mid-size companies.

• Strong understanding of Indian GAAP, Companies Act, and taxation.
  
• Hands-on experience with Excel, financial tools, and accounting platforms.
  
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders, meet tight deadlines, and own deliverables end-to-end.
