Department: Fashion and Textiles Reports To: Department Head Job Type: Full-time Location: Aligarh UP Position Summary: The Fashion Faculty member will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or related areas. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator and industry professional with a strong commitment to teaching, curriculum development, research, and student mentoring. Key Responsibilities: Teach a range of courses, such as Fashion Design, Textiles, Draping, Patternmaking, Fashion Illustration, Merchandising, Trend Forecasting, and Fashion Marketing. Develop and update syllabi, assignments, and course content aligned with current industry standards and institutional learning outcomes. Mentor and advise students on academic, career, and portfolio development. Participate in curriculum planning, program assessment, and accreditation activities. Engage in scholarly or creative work, including research, exhibitions, or publications. Foster relationships with fashion industry professionals for internships, guest lectures, and employment opportunities. Serve on departmental or university committees and participate in faculty meetings and events. Contribute to community outreach and the promotion of the fashion program. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree or Graduation in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred for tenure-track roles). Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the fashion industry. Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred. Proficiency in relevant industry software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CLO 3D, CAD). Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. A portfolio showcasing professional and/or student work (if applicable). Preferred Qualifications: Experience with online or hybrid teaching environments. Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices and DEI principles in design. Active involvement in professional organizations or industry events. Record of scholarly or creative contributions to the field.
