Role Overview

Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities1. Fabrication & Production

• Supervise fabrication of

  heavy structural steel fabrication

  , formwork, scaffolding, solar mounting structures, and railway components.
• Interpret

  GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOQs

  accurately.
• Plan cutting, fit-up, welding, and finishing sequences for optimal productivity.
• Coordinate with storekeeper for raw material planning and consumption tracking.

2. Welding & Quality Control

• Ensure welding is executed as per

  WPS / PQR

  and applicable standards.
• Knowledge of

  MIG / ARC welding

  , joint types, distortion control, and welding defects.
• Conduct and supervise

  fit-up inspections, visual inspections

  , and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate with third-party inspectors / client QC teams when required.

3. Standards & Compliance

• Ensure fabrication complies with

  IS, ASTM, AWS standards

  (as applicable).
• Maintain

  QC documents, inspection reports, test certificates, and DPRs

  .
• Implement corrective actions for non-conformities.

4. Site & Client Coordination

• Coordinate with site teams for erection-related clarifications.
• Support site engineers during erection, alignment, and rectification.
• Attend client meetings for technical clarifications and approvals.

5. Planning & Cost Control

• Assist management in

  production planning, manpower allocation, and timeline control

  .
• Reduce material wastage and rework through process improvement.
• Support estimation and costing for new enquiries when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

• Strong knowledge of

  structural steel fabrication processes

• Hands-on experience with

  welding, fabrication drawings, and shop-floor execution

• Familiar with

  structural fabrication

  (preferred)
• Basic understanding of

  AutoCAD drawings

• Ability to handle pressure and meet tight delivery schedules

Preferred Experience

• Experience in

  railway components, solar structures, or heavy fabrication

• Exposure to

  client inspections and audits

• Experience working in

  Howrah fabrication clusters
