Job Description

You will be joining House of Shipping as an Executive - Purchaser on behalf of a leading global container liner company. As the Purchaser, your primary responsibility will be to support the Technical Department by managing day-to-day procurement operations in accordance with the company's policies and procedures. Your role will involve sourcing, processing, and coordinating orders for vessel spares, services, and supplies to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with the Company's Management System. In this capacity, you will act as a bridge between technical superintendents, suppliers, and internal departments. Your key tasks and responsibilities will include processing purchase requisitions accurately and promptly, updating the purchasing system to reflect order statuses, and selecting vendors based on cost, lead time, quality, and contract terms. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the purchasing filing system, ensuring adherence to the Technical Department Manual and Safety Management System, and contributing to the enhancement and standardization of procurement procedures. Moreover, effective communication and coordination will be crucial in your role. You will need to promptly escalate any procurement-related issues to the relevant Technical Superintendent, liaise with vendors and forwarders to track and expedite deliveries, monitor delivery timelines, match deliveries to vessel schedules, and follow up on backorders. Furthermore, you will maintain vendor performance data for future evaluation and provide feedback to enhance procurement cycle time, cost-effectiveness, and supplier quality. To excel in this position, you are required to have a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, or Marine Engineering, along with at least 2-4 years of purchasing or logistics experience, preferably in marine, technical procurement, or supply chain roles. Additionally, familiarity with shipboard systems and parts, global supplier sourcing, ERP-based procurement platforms, and strong documentation and coordination capabilities are essential. Your expertise in marine procurement, knowledge of ship spare parts and technical service sourcing, proficiency in ERP procurement management, vendor management, procurement documentation, problem-solving, compliance, and policy adherence will be critical for success in this role. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and competencies such as marine parts and service knowledge, ERP procurement management, vendor management, procurement documentation, problem-solving, compliance, and policy adherence are essential for this position.
