Job Description

Primary Title: ETL Test Engineer
Role & Responsibilities

Design, document, and execute ETL test cases to validate data movement, transformations, and load processes across source-to-target pipelines.
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and row-level comparisons using SQL, scripting, and ETL tool logs to identify discrepancies and root causes.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for regression and sanity checks to accelerate release cycles and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with ETL developers, data engineers, and BI analysts to review mapping specifications, data models, and change requests; provide clear defect reports and remediation guidance.
Execute performance and volume testing for ETL workflows; monitor job runtimes, resource utilisation, and advise optimisation approaches.
Maintain test artifacts in Agile tools (JIRA), participate in sprint ceremonies, and ensure test coverage for production releases and data migrations.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

3+ years of hands-on ETL testing experience in data warehouse/BI projects.
Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills for complex data validation and reconciliation.
Experience testing ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Talend, or Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
Solid understanding of data modelling, source-to-target mapping, and data quality concepts.
Practical experience with test automation for ETL (scripting in Shell, Python or similar) and familiarity with CI/CD basics.
Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA; strong communication and defect-reporting skills.
