Job Description

As the EHS Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure full compliance with all relevant Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) laws, rules, and regulations, including those set forth by GPCB, CPCB, Factories Act, and OSHA. You will be required to coordinate and prepare for inspections and audits by regulatory bodies, maintain statutory registers and licenses, and keep all EHS documentation up to date. In terms of safety management, you will need to develop and implement site-specific safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and risk mitigation plans. It will be your duty to conduct regular safety audits, identify hazards, and carry out risk assessments. In the event of incidents or accidents, you will be responsible for investigating, reporting, determining root causes, and implementing corrective/preventive actions. Environmental management will also fall under your purview, where you will monitor and control emissions, effluents, waste generation, and disposal in accordance with legal requirements. Additionally, you will oversee the functioning of pollution control equipment and maintain environmental monitoring records. Your role will also involve health and occupational hygiene monitoring to assess workplace exposure to hazardous substances and ensure proper medical surveillance of employees. Employee wellness promotion and organizing training programs on safety practices, emergency preparedness, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage will be crucial aspects of your responsibilities. Maintaining detailed records of incidents, inspections, audits, training sessions, and compliance reports, and submitting EHS performance reports to management and regulatory bodies will be part of your documentation and reporting duties. Leading the EHS team, coordinating with various departments, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization will also be key responsibilities. To excel in this role, you must possess in-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and leadership abilities, and proficiency in documentation and statutory compliance. A Bachelors/Masters degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Industrial Safety, or Engineering, along with a Diploma in Industrial Safety and 5-7 years of experience in EHS management in the manufacturing or process industry, are the preferred qualifications for this position.
