E-commerce Manager FMCG (MT & Ecom)

Job Role Summary

The E-commerce Manager in an FMCG company is responsible for driving online sales growth, managing digital retail channels, improving product visibility, and ensuring excellent customer experience across all e-commerce platforms (marketplaces, quick-commerce, D2C, and B2B portals). The role focuses heavily on analytics, assortment planning, pricing, promotions, supply chain coordination, and maintaining strong relationships with online retailers.

Key Responsibilities

1. E-commerce Strategy & Planning

  • Develop & implement the company’s online growth strategy across marketplaces, quick-commerce apps, and D2C websites.
  • Identify new e-commerce opportunities and emerging digital channels.
  • Plan annual/quarterly online business targets and revenue forecasts.
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking (pricing, assortment, promotions, content).

2. Online Channel & Marketplace Management

  • Manage daily operations with major platforms (Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, etc.).
  • Set up and optimize product listings, brand stores, and category pages.
  • Coordinate with marketplace category managers for visibility, promotions, and campaign participation.
  • Negotiate terms, margins, and marketing budgets with platforms.

3. Product Content & Digital Shelf Management

  • Ensure high-quality product listings (images, videos, A+ content, keywords).
  • Maintain accurate descriptions, ingredients, packaging sizes, and legal compliance.
  • Improve digital shelf share, search ranking, and visibility of SKUs.
  • Conduct periodic audits for product availability, pricing, and content accuracy.

4. Sales Performance & Data Analytics

  • Track daily sales, category trends, conversions, CTR, ROAS, inventory levels, and return rates.
  • Manage monthly dashboards and performance reviews.
  • Use data to optimize assortment, pricing, and promotional planning.
  • Identify best-selling SKUs and gaps to maximize category growth.

5. Pricing, Promotions & Campaign Planning

  • Design online pricing strategy aligned with offline MRP and brand guidelines.
  • Plan monthly promotions, deals, bundling, and discount strategies.
  • Manage platform-specific campaigns (Big Billion Day, Prime Day, Festive Sales).
  • Monitor promotional ROI and adjust strategy for maximum efficiency.

6. Inventory, Supply Chain & Operations Coordination

  • Collaborate with supply chain to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Monitor fill rates, order accuracy, delivery timelines, and OOS situations.
  • Manage dispatches to marketplace warehouses (FBA, etc.).
  • Reduce returns, damages, and logistics issues.

7. D2C Website Management (If applicable)

  • Oversee website performance, UI/UX, CRO, and checkout optimization.
  • Manage SEO, SEM, email marketing, CRM, and loyalty programs.
  • Coordinate with tech & agency partners for website enhancements.

8. Marketing & Brand Development for Online

  • Work with digital marketing teams on campaigns (Google, Meta, influencer marketing).
  • Ensure brand consistency across e-commerce channels.
  • Manage spend on paid ads, brand ads, and marketplace visibility campaigns.

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, and NPD teams.
  • Provide insights for new product launches and online-exclusive SKUs.
  • Ensure alignment between offline and online trade objectives.

10. Compliance & Process Management

  • Maintain compliance with FMCG regulations (FSSAI, labeling, product claims).
  • Follow marketplace policies and ensure timely documentation for listings.
  • Ensure GST, invoicing, and financial reconciliation accuracy.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in e-commerce (preferably FMCG, retail, or consumer goods).
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon Seller/Vendor Central, marketplace dashboards.
  • Analytical skills with expertise in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of supply chain, D2C platforms, digital marketing.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
