Role Overview: As the Director of Market Risk Oversight within the Finance Risk Management Group in GRC, Market & Liquidity Risk at American Express, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and independent oversight for market risk management across American Express and American Express National Bank (AENB). Your role will involve developing and implementing market risk management strategies, policies, and procedures. Additionally, you will lead a team of risk professionals to ensure effective identification, assessment, and mitigation of market risks. Monitoring trends, market developments, and regulatory changes will be crucial in proactively identifying emerging risks and opportunities for risk mitigation and optimization. Fostering a strong risk culture and awareness of market risk throughout the organization will also be a key aspect of your role. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement market risk management strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory requirements - Provide strategic leadership and oversight to manage the Company's market risk exposures effectively - Utilize analytical frameworks for independent risk assessment and challenge critical processes including asset-liability management and investment risk management - Lead the development of risk methodologies and metrics for assessing market risk exposures - Monitor limits and escalation thresholds to ensure mitigation of material market risks within risk tolerance - Build and lead a team of risk professionals in the US and India - Stay updated on market trends, developments, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities for mitigation and optimization - Promote a strong risk culture and awareness through training, communication, and knowledge sharing initiatives Qualification Required: - Undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, or related field - 7+ years of experience in risk management or finance, with 3+ years in leadership roles - In-depth knowledge of market risk management processes, metrics, analytics, and regulatory guidelines - Experience in asset-liability management, interest rate risk, and foreign exchange risk management - Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills - Ability to translate complex information for senior leadership and regulators - Proactive in identifying and mitigating risks in a timely manner - Strong leadership skills with experience in team development and collaboration - Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint Additional Details: American Express provides competitive base salaries, bonus incentives, support for financial well-being, comprehensive benefits, flexible working arrangements, paid parental leave, access to wellness centers, counseling support, and career development opportunities.
