Director Development (Engineering Manager)

Position: Engineering Manager Scalable AI-First Platforms (MERN & Beyond)

About the Role:

Were looking for a seasoned, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams building AI-first, global-scale web products powering platforms like Simplilearn, FullStack Academy, Growth & Payments systems, and intelligent chatbot experiences. Youll work closely with the CTO and Principal Architect to define architecture, lead multiple engineering squads, and deliver scalable, secure, and intelligent solutions. This is a role for a technical leader who codes, mentors, and inspires someone who can earn trust from both engineers and business stakeholders.

What Youll Do

Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams across web, platform, and AI domains.

Drive technical excellence and modern architecture using the MERN stack and related technologies.

Collaborate with the Principal Architect to design and evolve cloud-native, scalable systems.

Champion AI-first development – using Vibe coding, AI coding assistants, QA automation, and intelligent delivery pipelines. Partner with Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver impactful, data-driven features.

Build alignment with business leaders, ensuring engineering strategy drives measurable outcomes.

What You Bring

8+ years of engineering experience with 4+ years in leadership or management roles.

Strong, hands-on expertise in React, Node.js, Next.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.

Proven success building and scaling global, distributed web systems.

Experience with AI/ML integration, automation, and intelligent product features.

Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with a bias for action.

Proficiency with DevOps, CI/CD, and modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Turborepo, TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (Next.js).

Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS).

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and modern DevOps practices. Experience with Docker containerization.

Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system design.

Experience designing and consuming GraphQL and REST APIs.

Strong background in building and optimizing scalable, high-traffic web applications.

Experience with modern testing frameworks – AI frameworks, React Testing Library, Cypress.

Technical Skills:

Frontend: React, Redux/Context API, HTML5, CSS3, Responsive Design

Backend: Node.js, Express.js, RESTful APIs, Authentication/Authorization

Database: MongoDB, Mongoose, Query Optimization, Indexing

Tools: Git, Jira/Linear, Slack, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)

Testing: Unit, Integration, and End-to-End Testing

Architecture: Microservices, Monolithic Systems, Cloud-Native Design
