Digital Solution- Team Leader

Briefly summarise the positions purpose or role: This position has overall management responsibility for a production team, which can include Senior Production Editors and Production Editors. The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the publication of all products produced by members of their team. The Team Leader is also responsible for the final quality of production of products based on set standards and procedures. From time to time, the Team Leader will be required to work on the production of reporters, newsletters and/or books. The Team Leader will also provide advice and assistance to the Production Manager regarding production issues and training requirements in their group. Major Areas Of Responsibility Ensure that new and updating products are delivered as per the agreed schedule, within budget and of sufficient production quality, distribution or sale. Liaises with the Production Manager on priority of products and workflow required of Production team. Liaises with editors and support team on day-to-day issues. Reports reasons for variances on production schedule to Production Manager for incorporation in overall reports. Acts as backup to Production Manager during periods of absence as required Major Challenges/Problem Solving People management Prioritising and time management Overseeing special projects and new tasks Training new recruits Meeting own deadlines while still assisting others Maintaining conformance to workflow and Production/Publishing standards Keeping up with technical developments affecting production Keeping errors to a minimum Working in a regional centre and developing trust relationships with Editorial staff based in other countries As a Greenfields Centre managing the cultural diversity issues in a business-as-usual environment will create challenges that have to be resolved Knowledge & Experience Required: Qualifications: Tertiary qualified in Information Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Education or Diploma in Publishing 3-5 years experience in publishing or related industry 1 2 years experience in managing people including performance management Technical Skills: Computer skills SGML/HTML knowledge Superior language skills with demonstrable verbal and written English language capability Eye for detail Solid knowledge of DTDs Please share your resume at hemanti.sarkar@mpslimited.com
