Job Description

General Manager (GM) Urbanscrape Properties

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overall construction operations at Urbanscrape Properties, overseeing multiple projects from initiation to completion. The role ensures delivery within approved budgets, timelines, quality, and safety standards. The GM acts as the key liaison between executive leadership, clients, architects, consultants, and site teams, driving operational excellence, strategic growth, and administrative efficiency across the construction division.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Oversight

  • Define divisional objectives, operational policies, and performance frameworks aligned with organizational goals.
  • Drive business growth, process improvements, and long-term strategic planning for the construction division.

Project Leadership

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and deliver multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure adherence to approved schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.

Financial Management

  • Prepare and oversee project and departmental budgets.
  • Monitor costs, optimize resource utilization, approve expenditures, and ensure profitability.

Administrative & Compliance Management

  • Oversee administrative functions related to construction operations, including documentation, approvals, reporting, and record management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, contracts, permits, licenses, and internal company policies.
  • Coordinate with HR, finance, procurement, and legal teams on manpower planning, payroll inputs, vendor administration, and contractual matters.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Represent the company in meetings, reviews, negotiations, and official communications.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, engineers, supervisors, and site teams.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct reviews, and promote a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Quality, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental norms across all sites.
  • Implement robust quality control, safety audits, and corrective action processes.

Risk Management & Bidding

  • Participate in project bidding, tender evaluation, and contract negotiations.
  • Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management and leadership roles.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, statutory codes, and project management systems.

Leadership & Administration

  • Proven leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong administrative control with the ability to manage cross-functional coordination and compliance.
