Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support and assistance to end-users, ensuring that all desktop systems and applications are functioning optimally. This role requires a strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking, along with excellent problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support for desktop hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems, laptops, and printers.
- Assist users with software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business applications.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates on desktop systems to ensure security and efficiency.
- Document and track support requests using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate complex issues and implement solutions.
- Provide training and support to end-users on new technologies and software.
- Maintain inventory of hardware and software assets.
- Stay updated on the latest technology trends and best practices in desktop support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a desktop support role or similar position.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) are a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to address urgent issues.
- The Desktop Support Engineer may need to lift and move computer equipment as necessary.
