Design Engineer - Segmental Formwork

Reports To:

The Design Engineer will report to Design Manager.

Job Overview:

A segmental formwork design engineer designs temporary support systems for concrete, creating detailed drawings and performing calculations to ensure structural integrity and safety, especially for precast segments. Key responsibilities include using design software, selecting materials, collaborating with site and project teams to resolve technical issues, and ensuring compliance with codes and project specifications. The role requires a civil/mechanical engineering degree and proficiency in CAD software, with experience in conventional and modular formwork systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Design & Optimization:

Develop and optimize formwork systems for precast segments and other structures, ensuring designs are safe, buildable, and economical.

· Structural Analysis:

Perform structural calculations to ensure the formwork can withstand concrete pressure, dead loads, live loads, and other relevant construction loads.

· Material Selection:

Choose appropriate materials for formwork, considering factors like cost, durability, and strength.

· Documentation:

Create detailed design drawings, 3D models, design calculations, and method statements as required by the project and for submission to clients and authorities.

· Coordination:

Liaise and work closely with project managers, site engineers, contractors, and consultants to provide technical advice and resolve design-related challenges.

· Site Support:

Conduct site visits as needed to provide guidance and monitor the correct implementation of formwork designs and safety protocols.

· Compliance:

Ensure designs and processes adhere to project requirements, safety standards, and relevant building codes and standards.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

· Education:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.

· Software Proficiency:

Strong skills in CAD Software like AutoCAD, Solidworks & Staadpro for creating 2D and 3D drawings and potentially specialized design analysis software.

· Technical Knowledge:

Understanding of formwork and shoring systems, including modular and conventional types.

· Structural Principles:

Knowledge of concrete pressure, construction loads, wind loads, and stability design for civil structures.

· Communication:

Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

· Problem-Solving:

Ability to identify and address technical challenges and adapt designs to site conditions.

· Work Experience:

Min. 5 years of work experience in design of Long line/Short line Segment, Steel Bridges, I Girder Shutter, Pier & Pier Cap

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
