Job Summary

The Design Engineer – Packaging is responsible for designing, developing, and improving packaging solutions that meet functional, cost, sustainability, and customer requirements. The role involves working closely with production, quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure manufacturer and reliable packaging designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging solutions such as cartons, corrugated boxes, labels, flexible packaging, trays, and protective packaging.
• Create 2D and 3D designs using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
• Develop technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs for packaging components.
• Conduct material selection based on strength, cost, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform design validation through testing (compression, drop, vibration, etc.).
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure maneuverability and cost optimization.
• Support prototype development, trials, and pilot runs.
• Work with suppliers and vendors for new material and tooling development.
• Ensure packaging designs comply with industry standards, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
• Knowledge of packaging materials (paperboard, corrugated, plastics, foams, films).
• Understanding manufacturing processes such as die-cutting, molding, forming, printing, and lamination.
• Familiarity with quality tools and documentation.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Basic understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Time management and ability to handle multiple projects

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
