Design Engineer (Electrical / Mechanical)

Role Overview

The Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. The role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate concepts into precise engineering designs that support manufacturing, installation, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Design

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings including SLDs, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts, and control schematics.
• Create GA drawings and fabrication drawings for control panels, junction boxes, and instrumentation layouts.
• Interpret electrical standards, customer specifications, and engineering inputs to produce accurate designs.

Mechanical Design

• Develop mechanical 2D and 3D models, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
• Design enclosures, mechanical structures, panel cabinets, brackets, and related components.
• Ensure drawings follow correct tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturability guidelines.

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project engineers, production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure drawing accuracy and feasibility.
• Update drawings as per revision changes, engineering feedback, or customer comments.
• Maintain drawing libraries, templates, and CAD standards within the organization.
• Support engineering and production teams with technical documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (IEC, ISO, ANSI, etc.).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering fields.
• 1–2 years of experience in drafting or design using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and industrial standards.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
• Proficiency in 2D drafting (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling (SolidWorks).
• Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automation, control panels, machinery design, or fabrication industries.
• Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing practices such as sheet metal, machining, and assembly.
• Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or document control systems.
