Job Description

Job Summary The Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management is a senior academic leader responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, academic quality, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement of the faculty. The Dean plays a critical role in promoting excellence in teaching, research, industry collaboration, and student success in areas including business, commerce, economics, and management studies. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership Provide visionary leadership in developing and delivering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Ensure curriculum relevance by integrating current trends, technology, and industry standards. Foster academic innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and pedagogical advancements. Strategic & Operational Management Develop and implement strategic plans for the faculty aligned with institutional goals. Manage faculty budgets, human resources, and infrastructure effectively. Lead program accreditations and ensure compliance with national and international standards (e.g., NAAC, NBA, AACSB). Research & Innovation Promote a strong research culture across departments. Encourage publication in high-impact journals and support grant acquisition. Drive partnerships with academic institutions and think tanks for collaborative research. Faculty & Staff Development Recruit, mentor, and retain qualified faculty members. Establish policies for faculty evaluation, promotion, and professional development. Create a collegial and inclusive work environment. Student Engagement & Development Enhance student learning outcomes, employability, and leadership skills. Develop internship, placement, and entrepreneurship programs in collaboration with industry partners. Address student concerns and promote student well-being. Industry and Community Relations Strengthen ties with industry, government bodies, alumni, and global academic partners. Facilitate guest lectures, consultancy projects, executive education, and corporate training programs. Qualifications Ph.D. in Commerce, Management, Business Administration, or related field. At least 10–15 years of academic experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, Department Head). A proven track record in academic administration, research, and institutional development. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience in accreditation processes and quality assurance is preferred.
