Role Overview

DB2 Systems & Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain

    DB2 database systems

    .
  • Perform

    database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization

    .
  • Manage

    backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability

    solutions.
  • Implement and enforce

    database security, user access control, and compliance standards

    .
  • Work closely with application teams to support

    database design, query optimization, and schema changes

    .
  • Troubleshoot and resolve

    database incidents, outages, and performance issues

    .
  • Develop and maintain

    DBA documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices

    .
  • Support

    automation initiatives

    for DB2 administration and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for

    capacity planning and system upgrades

    .

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in

    DB2 database administration

    (LUW and/or z/OS).
  • Strong expertise in

    performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting

    .
  • Experience with

    HADR, Data Sharing, and replication technologies

    .
  • Proficiency in

    backup/recovery strategies, DR planning, and execution

    .
  • Solid understanding of

    database security, roles, and privileges

    .
  • Hands-on experience with

    scripting (Shell/Perl/Python) and automation tools

    .
  • Knowledge of

    OS-level concepts (Linux/Unix/Windows)

    related to DB2.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to work in

    24x7 production environments

    .
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have

  • Exposure to

    cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP)

    .
  • Knowledge of

    other RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

    .
  • Experience with

    DevOps/CI-CD integration

    for databases.
