Job Description

As a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) at Qualys, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our database-centric Qualys SaaS platform, which relies on technologies such as Oracle, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, and Ceph. Your primary responsibility will be to keep production systems running smoothly across multiple worldwide platforms, collaborating closely with Development, SRE, Infra, Networking, Support teams, and Customers to deliver 24x7 support and drive database optimizations. **Responsibilities:** - Perform installation, configuration, and performance tuning of Oracle, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, and Ceph in a multi-DC environment. - Identify and address bottlenecks through performance tuning. - Ensure the integrity and security of the databases. - Monitor performance and manage configuration parameters to optimize query responses. - Install and test new databases, as well as patch existing live databases. - Verify the functionality of storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures. - Understand business applications and recommend necessary database or architecture changes. **Qualifications:** - Minimum 5 years of experience managing SQL & No-SQL databases. - Proficiency in diagnostic, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools for performance optimization. - Knowledge of the interrelationships between databases, business applications, and operating systems. - Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures. - Understanding of real-time data synchronization. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to collaborate across multiple teams to resolve data issues. - Experience in mid to large size production environments. - Working knowledge of ansible, Jenkins, git, and Grafana is a plus.
