Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to design, implement and optimize relational and spatial
database solutions supporting large-scale nutrition, supply-chain and GIS based systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in PostgreSQL and PostGIS, ensuring high availability, performance and security across complex datasets.

• Design and implement relational and spatial database schemas using PostgreSQL and PostGIS to support GIS and analytical applications.


• Develop indexing, partitioning and query optimization strategies to enhance performance and scalability.


• Implement data encryption (SQLCipher), backup and replication mechanisms to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery.


• Collaborate with backend developers and data engineers to design efficient data models and pipelines.


• Manage database versioning, access control and monitoring for production and staging environments.


• Perform capacity planning, database tuning and performance benchmarking for optimal efficiency.


• Establish standards for database administrators, documentation and governance.


• Integrate Redis for caching, session management and high-performance data retrieval.


• Support analytics and reporting teams by ensuring structured data availability and optimized queries.

• Strong understanding of spatial data handling, GIS concepts and geospatial queries.


• Knowledge of database security, role management and encryption standards.


• Experience with pgAdmin or similar tools for database administration.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.


• Effective collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.


• Hindi-speaking ability will be considered an added advantage for team coordination and stakeholder communication.
