Data Migration Engineer QuickBooks (QBO/QBD)

This role focuses on extracting, transforming, and migrating financial and accounting data out of QuickBooks Online (QBO) or QuickBooks Desktop (QBD) into other accounting platforms

Key Skills:-

ETL extraction from QBO/QBD using CData, Fivetran, APIs:

Ability to pull data out of QuickBooks using tools like CData connectors, Fivetran pipelines, or direct API calls. This includes handling API limits, pagination, and complex entity relationships.

Deep understanding of accounting data structures:

Knowing how accounting objects relate (e.g., invoices link to payments, accounts tie to journal entries) to ensure the migration preserves financial integrity.

SQL + Python for transformation:

Using SQL queries and Python scripts to clean, normalize, and restructure extracted data before loading it into the target system.

Schema mapping between accounting platforms:

Translating QuickBooks data fields and structures into equivalent fields in systems like Xero, Zoho, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite.

Experience with migrations to modern accounting/ERP systems:

Knowing the data requirements, constraints, and import formats for common target platforms.

Reconciliation & audit log creation:

Generating checks, reports, and logs to verify that migrated balances match the source system and that every record is traceable.

Ability to handle large, inconsistent datasets:

Managing messy, incomplete, duplicated, or historically inconsistent accounting data and repairing it during migration.

Ensure full financial accuracy after migration:

The migration engineer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that financial reports (trial balance, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) match perfectly after migration.
