Data Engineering Lead Analyst

Position Overview

Cigna’s Enterprise Engineering group is seeking a Data Engineer to join our team. We internally build the Data analytics products that are used across our IT delivery organization. This position encompasses both leadership and individual contributor responsibilities. Critical technical skills include familiarity with Cloud-based ETL data pipelines, Python, AWS, Snowflake, Aurora RDS, Data Lakehouse (Databricks) and SQL experience.

Candidates for this position must have at least 5 years’ experience in Object Oriented Programming within a delivery team, as well as experience in developing data engineering solutions. The candidate understands the importance of quality and responsiveness in meeting customer expectations. Success in this position requires you to be a self-motivated team player and an open-minded contributor who can help the team reach it its larger goals.

Responsibilities

• Work with business and technical leadership to understand requirements.
• Design to the requirements and document the designs.
• Ability to write product-grade performant code for data extraction, transformations and loading using PySpark and Python.
• Do data modeling as needed for the requirements.
• Write performant queries using Teradata SQL, SQL and Spark SQL against Teradata and Databricks.
• Work with dev-ops to build pipelines to deploy code artifacts on to the designated platform/servers like AWS.
• Troubleshooting the issues, providing effective solutions and jobs monitoring in the production environment
• Participate in sprint planning sessions, refinement/story-grooming sessions, daily scrums, demos and retrospectives.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• 5 - 8 years of experience in Software Development and Best Practices.
• Experience with AWS technologies like AWS Lambda, Glue Jobs and Workflows.
• Must have 3+ years’ experience with Python.
• Strong experience in writing complex and effective SQLs (using Teradata SQL, SQL and Spark SQL) and Stored Procedures
• Excellent work experience on Databricks as Data Lake implementations
• Strong development experience in PySpark, Shell scripting, Teradata.
• Experience with cloud deployment technologies like terraform/terragrunt.
• Experience in Agile and working knowledge on DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory)
• Health care domain knowledge is a plus
• Exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives.

• Are passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
• Are open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
• Are passionate about all things DevOps in design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.

Location & Hours of Work

• Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate
• Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
