Data Engineer Intern – Xiaomi India

Location:

Xiaomi is one of the world’s leading technology companies, with a strong presence in India across smartphones, smart devices, and internet services. At Xiaomi India, data is at the core of all strategic decisions. We’re looking for passionate Data Engineer Interns to work on high-impact projects involving large-scale data systems, data modeling, and pipeline engineering to support business intelligence, analytics, and AI use cases.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in building scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Support data modeling activities for analytics and reporting use cases.
  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation using PySpark.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure high data quality and availability.
  • Work on Hadoop ecosystem tools to process large datasets.
  • Contribute to data documentation and maintain version-controlled scripts


Technical Skills Required

  • Strong proficiency in Python

    for data processing and scripting.

  • Good knowledge of SQL

    – writing complex queries, joins, aggregations

  • Understanding of Data Modeling concepts

    – Star/Snowflake schema, Fact/Dimension tables.

  • Familiarity with Big Data / Hadoop ecosystem

    – HDFS, Hive, Spark.

  • Basic exposure to PySpark

    will be a strong plus.
  • Experience with tools like Jupyter Notebook, VS Code, or any modern IDE.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP/Databricks) is a bonus.


Soft Skills

  • Eagerness to learn and work in a fast-paced data-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in teams.
